I was really excited to jump in this conclusion to the Hourglass trilogy, though, I couldn’t rate this one as high as the others – for one thing, the science fiction element was less prominent, as was the action.

It was great to get re-united with the cast from the first two books, even thought it was from a different dual perspective: Hallie and Dune.

In reflection it was a little difficult to separate the voices of Emmerson, Lily and Hallie; as it was with Michael, Kaleb and Dune – they all sounded similar and had that snarky banter. I would have preferred stronger language and cadence in the narration separating them rather than just physical appearance.

Additionally, I was a little over the after-school-special thing that was going on. In the first book it was romantic, in the second it was okay, but by the third, did we really need to have yet more people coupling up? I was a little too sickly sweet for my tastes. Where was the grit and tension that we got in ‘Hourglass?’

But, the characters are adorable. I could eat Hallie up with a spoon. And Dune – it was nice to read about a character from a different culture – though – and I say this from experience, Polynesians have a stronger sense of family and belonging to their culture that Dune seemed to be missing. But it was still such a pleasant surprise.

The science fiction of it all (what was there) is still pretty fantastic. I like how abilities are rooted in the mythology of time – and to be frank, I don’t think I could have ever dreamed up anything similar in a million years. McEntire is a genius when it comes to this. I missed the time travel and the complex mathematics and situations required to do so… those elements really added to the tension and pacing, and this story fell flat for me because of their absence.

The ending was cheesy and predictable. I would have loved an explosive conclusion – this fizzled somewhat. But still, I loved the start, and elements of the story-line, so the weight of the first two books carried this conclusion across the line.

Witty and funny dialogue, some action but heavy on the romance. A light read but not the best of the series. Love the timey-wimey of it all. A luke-warm ending to a cool series.

After reading Timepiece, I was eagerly awaiting the concluding novel in the Hourglass series. The ending left me wanting so much, and I couldn't wait to see how everything was going to go down. Infinityglass definitely didn't disappoint. While I was hoping that this novel would be from Michael's POV (because I love Michael), I didn't mind that this was from Dune (our resident geek/hottie) and Hallie's POV. I liked the dual POV's, and it was expertly written. Even though I really wanted to read more from Michael, and Jack is still very much present in the Hourglass world, Michael and Em's story is, for all intents and purposes, over. There was nothing left of their story to tell, and this last novel probably would have dragged as a result. Dune and Hallie's POV was nothing short of interesting. It was full of action, lust, and new-found love. And even though it was insta-love, I had come to expect it with this series, so I wasn't bothered by it.

I do think that this story would have suffered if there wasn't the dual POV's. Dune, who has always just been a secondary character, was an interesting read. He is explored much more in depth, and we find out why he is the way he is. I loved reading more about his backstory and his dedication to both Hallie and the Hourglass. Dune is definitely a rival of Michael and Kaleb. He's intelligent, strong, and quiet. He knows how to go about things in ways that no one would think of. However, I think Hallie's POV was amazing. It was nice to read from her perspective because it gave the reader an inside look at what being the Infinityglass actually meant and involved. She was a strong, determined, and hilarious character, and she was a great addition to the story.

The action in this novel is amazing. It is non-stop and is chock full of twists and turns that will make you dizzy trying to guess which way the events will turn out. There were many surprises in this story, but I was constantly blown away at how well this world has been crafted. It is so unique, and it never disappoints or feels boring. Ms. McEntire has a great gift in writing, and I am eager to read whatever she writes next. The diversity of the characters is something I have also always appreciated about this series. Each character, even when mentioned just on the side, has his/her own distinct personality, and it leaves you longing to find out more about their lives. This leads me to the one and only thing I didn't like about this book...Ava. It's not so much that I didn't like it, more it was something that I wanted. Ava has always been this character on the outer edge of the story. I felt that we never truly got to know her, and it isn't any different in this story. She is barely even mentioned except for at the end, where I think there might be some allusions to a novella about her and a certain other character who I don't want to spoil. I also would have liked more from Nate, because he's hilarious as always.

Nevertheless, this was an amazing end to this series. While it's sad to say goodbye to these characters, I will definitely be saying hello to them time and time again. This was a truly remarkable series, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes time travel novels, or is just looking for something different and unique.
