I liked this book, but I didn't quite love it.

First let me list the things I did like:
*I thought that Rebecca and Patrick were very likable characters, and I also fell in love with those little kiddo's, too.
*I like the fact that Rebecca wasn't some weak whiny heroine. She was a strong, smart, beautiful young woman raising her daughter on her own, and needed no one to fend for her.
*Patrick had a very dangerous job as a Navy Seal, but he was also a very dedicated father, who was also left on his own to raise his young son. In some cases with a death of a parent or even when a divorce takes place, the surviving parent usually cuts ties with the other grandparents. But that didn't happen in this case, which was a very nice change.
*I loved the undeniable chemistry between Rebecca and Patrick. They were both acted very mature, and didn't make any moves without taking in the consideration of how their actions would affect their childrens lives.

Now having said that, this is the things that bothered me:

*This book was listed as a Romantic/ Suspense, but as far as I'm concerned the suspense part of the story was very, very weak. It was like it was almost over and done with, before it really even really got started.
* And while I loved the story line, the ending left a little bit to be desired. It just felt so rushed. I couldn't believe when I turned the page and it was over. I went back thinking I must have missed a few pages, but nope...it just ended. There was somewhat of an HEA, I guess. It just wasn't what I thought it should be.

Over all, though, I think this was still a pretty good read.

SEAL the Deal Alpha SEALs Volume 1 Makenna Jameison 9781514819135 Books Reviews

Patrick could be my new book boyfriend. I don't think a book could get much more real than this.

The story was well written although there were a few issues. More effort was put into Patrick's ex so it was easy to understand his dilemma. However, almost nothing was given forth to understand what kind of relationship Rebecca had with her late husband.

Taking it for what it is, this was a great read and I'm looking forward to the rest just because I like the guys on the team.
I really enjoyed reading Rebecca and Patrick’s story. He is a SEAL who has full custody of his son. She is a successful attorney with a daughter and a staulker. The characters are both likeable and you are rooting they get together. The suspense with the staulker was on the low side which I like. The characters emotions were developed but I could have used more so they were a little less cookie cutter personalities. That left the story over all simple, not rich in texture. I did enjoy it enough to see what else the author had written. I was able to get this one for free in a promotion but the price of $3.99 for the next books in the series is too high. I would buy at $1.99 and that would match the story level to the price.
This is a full length standalone but a little too ordinary. Patrick is the seal team leader and a divorcée with a son. Rebecca is a widower with a daughter and a divorce attorney. She recognizes Patrick one night when she's out with a friend. He recognizes her as he's lead by his team for some R&R at a local bar.

The author establishes that Patrick is a well built stud that had his fair share of women. I felt a little too much. I felt she recapped feelings multiple times that weren't necessary. I would have liked to see more time spent with the quartet bonding more. You don't see any interaction between Rebecca's daughter Abbey and Patrick. There is not much between Patrick's son Logan and Rebecca either.

I feel details like this are a must because these children are described as focal points for both parents. Patrick's sister is mentioned but never elaborated on. Neither families truly are. It helps a reader to relate to characters with details like this. More so than how many notches are in his belt. The book felt like things were taken out of it such as the spring that is explained to have been spent together. There were a few times they met up and one date and bam Patrick was falling in love.

She'd never even been to his house. Rebecca tells her friend but she never meets him or is seen in the story again. The break up when Rebecca is left worrying would have been an opportunity to bring her back in and bring another layer to Rebecca's daily struggle. I still appreciated a longer book but with the couple needing to establish their feelings and the mystery surrounding Rebecca's stalker the book just screamed for more details.

If the couple had completely knew the other it would have took some of that burden off of the author but I like the original approach I just think the author needed more filler moments to make her reader feel the connection and feelings as strongly as her couple did. Enjoy!
I really enjoyed Seal the Deal. I especially liked the characters. Rebecca (not a simpering weakling) a robust, smart and independent woman who is raising her young daughter on her own. Patrick is the Navy Seal who has closed his heart and his young son off from any romantic entanglements after past experiences. The two of them have much to learn about coming back from tragic pasts and both are facing their own fears. Can they give themselves to each other or is it just too hard to change? That is the challenge. I really liked the personalities but in my opinion the book could have been expanded upon quite easily. It ended far too soon though, I would have liked to explore more of the inherent difficulties of merging two families into a cohesive relationship from the perspective of each family member. I look forward to reading the next in this series and hope that the continuance of these two are included.
